Vietnam’s trade surplus in July likely narrowed to $1 billion from $1.85 billion surplus in June, government data released on Wednesday showed.

Exports in July likely rose 0.3% y/y to $23 billion, while imports were likely down 2.9% to $22 billion, the General Statistics Office said in a statement.

For the first seven months of this year, exports were estimated to have risen 0.2% to $145.79 billion, while imports fell 2.9% to $139.33 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $6.46 billion, the GSO said.

GSO’s trade data is often subject to significant revision.

Vietnam’s consumer prices in July rose 3.39% from a year earlier, the GSO said.

Average consumer prices in the January-July period rose 4.07% year on year.
